Nepal
Dates Visited: 10 Feb 2000 - 15 may 2000
Reason for visit: Trekking
I spent the final part of my first round the world trip in Nepal. During the 3 months I was there, I spent most of my time in the mountains, trekking the Annapurna Circuit, Lantang Valley and Everest Base Camp Trek.
Diary extracts:
Tractor travel: " Comforted by a small amount of straw to act as a cusion, I sat on one wheel arch, Lisa on the other. Someone hanging on the side, the hotel tout precariously balanced on the back and the driver comfortable in the only designated seat. So off we headed down 13km's of rough track in the pouring rain...."
Bardia National Park: "Armed with our bamboo stick we entered the park. The first thing our guide did was give us the dangerous animal survival talk. 'If you see a tiger stand still and face it - they only attack from behind. If you see a Rhino - climb the nearest tree. If you see an Elephant - Run ...... the need for the Bamboo stick puzzled me."
